1. The IEGPS

Founded in 1944, as heir of the famous Seminario de Estudios Gallegos (1923), the Instituto de Estudios Gallegos "Padre Sarmiento" has been from then the catalyst for a very important cultural and scientific work.

The IEGPS as been and is home to a large number of exhibitions and academic events. Meeting place for scholars of Galicia, Spain and Europe, its staff is responsible for important collaborative research work in the field of humanities and social sciences. The Institute is part of the CSIC (Spanish National Research Council), the largest public research institution in Spain and the third one of Europe.

The IEGPS is located in the "old town" of Santiago de Compostela, in the building of the ancient hospital of San Roch, of the XVI century, recently refurbished.
